Affleck and Damon to re-team for Whitey Bulger biopic - Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are returning to their Boston roots to make a movie about New England's most notorious mobster, TheWrap has confirmed.

"We're doing a Whitey Bulger movie," Damon told GQ.com.

Affleck will direct and Damon will star as Bulger in the Warner Bros. movie. Terence Winter ("The Sopranos," "Boardwalk Empire") is writing.

Bulger is a compelling character for Affleck, who has a deft touch in movies about his hometown. His 2007 "Gone Baby Gone" beautifully captured Boston's gritty side, and his 2010 film "The Town" nailed South Boston.

Ken Jeong to star in and produce "The Chung Factor" - Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "Community" star Ken Jeong, who also played Mr. Chow in the "Hangover" movies, is starring in and producing "The Chung Factor" for Lionsgate, TheWrap has learned.

His manager, Brett Carducci, is also producing.

Lionsgate bought the spec script from Andy Selsor Tuesday. "The Chung Factor" is his first sale.

The movie is about a nice guy who meets the girl of his dreams after being unlucky in love. But because he's afraid of screwing up the relationship, he takes advice from an offbeat relationship coach, played by Jeong.

As it turns out, the coach is actually the woman's ex-boyfriend and is out to sabotage the relationship and win her back.

The script, formerly called "The Ex-Factor," was on the 2005 Black List of best unproduced scripts.

Actress sues Amazon for revealing her age on IMDb - Yahoo! News

SEATTLE (AP) — An actress is suing Amazon.com in federal court in Seattle for more than $1 million for revealing her age on its Internet Movie Database website and refusing to remove the reference when asked.

The actress is not named in the lawsuit filed Thursday that refers to her as Jane Doe. It says she lives in Texas and is of Asian descent and has an Americanized stage name.

The lawsuit accuses IMDb of misusing her personal information after she signed up for the industry insider IMDbPro service in 2008. Shortly thereafter, she noticed her legal date of birth had been added to her public acting profile. She requested that it be removed and IMDb refused, the lawsuit says.

GE's Immelt: Restoring confidence key to recovery - Yahoo! News

NEW YORK (Reuters) - General Electric Co Chief Executive Jeff Immelt said that restoring confidence in the U.S. economy is critical to sparking growth and easing rising tensions about economic disparities between the nation's wealthiest and poorest residents.

"Until you can restore confidence you can't move forward," Immelt, the head of the largest U.S. conglomerate, said at a Thomson Reuters Newsmaker event in New York on Monday.

Immelt, who has run the world's largest maker of jet engines and electric turbines for a decade, is a top adviser to U.S. President Barack Obama on jobs and the economy.

Immelt feels empathy for the crowds of anti-Wall Street protesters who have cropped up across the United States.

TV's "Dead" comes alive for season two premiere - Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - A scene in "The Walking Dead" second season premiere sets a new standard for squirm-inducing TV.

Really ... the gore factor is so high it easily trumps that time Phil Leotardo got his head squished by a runaway SUV on "The Sopranos" -- and that scene the "Walking Dead" team helped create for this past Sunday's "Breaking Bad" season finale.

Fans of "Walking Dead" will be happy to know that the stories and characterizations have also been amped up for season two, which picks up with Rick Grimes and company heading off for, literally, greener pastures.

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - GLAAD is breaking out the star power for its new "Amplify Your Voice" PSA campaign against LGBT bullying.

Chaz Bono, "Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino, Amy Poehler, Shaquille O'Neal, Rashida Jones, Tori Spelling and husband Dean, Mario Lopez, Dustin Lance Black and the cast of the teen drama "Pretty Little Liars" are among the stars who've filmed the public service announcements, which all tout the campaign slogan, "No matter who you are, you have the power to make a difference."

The campaign stems from a partnership between Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the American Federation of Teachers.

The PSAs are being launched the week before October 20's Spirit Day, the annual occasion when Americans are asked to wear purple to show support for lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender youth.

Rajaratnam gets 11-year prison sentence - Yahoo! News

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Raj Rajaratnam, a self-made hedge fund tycoon convicted in the biggest Wall Street trading scandal in a generation, was ordered on Thursday to serve 11 years in prison, one of the longest sentences ever in an insider-trading case but far less than prosecutors sought.

The sentencing caps a prosecution, marked by secret wiretaps of Rajaratnam and his associates, that shocked the investment world. Rajaratnam once ran a $7 billion hedge fund, but was found guilty of running a network of informants who provided him with corporate secrets.

The sentence was lighter than the 19-1/2 year minimum prison term that prosecutors had sought, but is still above the 10 years handed down recently in another major insider trading case.

Italian turmoil haunts euro zone before summit - Yahoo! News

ROME/ATHENS (Reuters) - Italy braced for a confidence vote in Silvio Berlusconi's government and Slovak leaders scrambled to secure approval for a stronger euro zone rescue fund on Wednesday, highlighting the political hurdles to resolving the bloc's debt crisis.

The European Union's top economic official said in Dublin that the currency bloc was in a "very dangerous situation" and pressed governments to take strong action at an EU summit which has been pushed back to October 23 to give politicians time to come up with a new strategy for Greece and ailing banks.

Inspectors from Europe and the International Monetary Fund gave a green light on Tuesday for Greece to receive a new aid payment needed to avert default, but new data showed the country's budget deficit widening and Greek tax inspectors vowed to strike next week in protest at wage and pension cuts.

Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy promised Sunday to unveil a comprehensive new package to ease the euro zone's debt crisis by the end of October, but offered no details.

International pressure has been building for bold steps from Europe to avert a global economic backlash.

In a move that could pressure other euro zone governments to strengthen their banks, Franco-Belgian lender Dexia agreed to nationalize its Belgian banking division and secured state guarantees in a rescue.
