Mladic on way to Hague to face war crimes charges - Yahoo! News

BELGRADE, Serbia – Serbia extradited Ratko Mladic to the U.N. war crimes tribunal on Tuesday, 16 years after he was charged by the court for the killing of 8,000 Muslim men and boys in the worst massacre of civilians in Europe since World War II.

Associated Press reporters at the Belgrade airport saw a government jet take off at 5:40 p.m. (1540 GMT), minutes after Serbian Justice Minister Snezana Malovic said Mladic was on the airplane.

"Mladic is charged with the most serious crimes against humanity and the most serious violations of the international humanitarian law," Malovic said.

Nokia warns of weaker sales, shares drop 15 percent - Yahoo! News

HELSINKI (Reuters) – Mobile phone maker Nokia Oyj slashed its sales and profit outlook on Tuesday and scrapped forecasts for 2011 due to tumbling prices and intense competition, sending its shares crashing 15 percent.

Nokia, once the undisputed force in the mobile phone market, has seen its position challenged in recent years, particularly losing ground in the smartphone market to newcomers Apple Inc and Google Inc.

The company, which is still the number one handset maker by volume, has overhauled its phone business, adopting Microsoft Corp's software instead of its own Symbian platform.

Hackers post phony Tupac story on PBS website - Yahoo! News

ARLINGTON, Va. – PBS officials say hackers have cracked the network's website. The hackers apparently posted a phony story claiming dead rapper Tupac Shakur was alive in New Zealand.

PBS confirmed early Monday morning on its official Twitter account that the website had been hacked. The phony story had been taken down as of Monday morning. It had been posted on the site of the "PBS Newshour" program.

PBS officials did not immediately respond to phone and email messages.

A tweet from the "Newshour" Twitter account said: "If you missed it: our site has been accessed by hackers. Thanks for staying with us."

A group calling itself LulzSec claimed responsibility and posted links to other hacks, including a video apparently taunting the network. Taunting messages were also posted on the group's Twitter page.

Greek debt fears weigh on euro, curb world stocks - Yahoo! News

LONDON (Reuters) – The euro slipped and world stocks were stuck on Monday with fears of a Greek debt default undimmed and U.S. and UK market holidays keeping many investors on the sidelines.

The shared currency was down 0.4 percent and European shares were flat in anemic trade, although German utilities sagged after Berlin's decision to shut all nuclear reactors by 2022 in the wake of Japan's Fukushima disaster.

German utilities RWE (RWEG.DE) and E.ON (EONGn.DE) were among the biggest fallers, down by around 2.4 and 1.7 percent respectively, while shares in renewable energy companies rose.

Greece's debt crisis continued to deter investors from searching out higher risk assets.

RABAT (Reuters) – After a frenetic career as producer to Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson and many other music legends, 78-year-old Quincy Jones refuses to slow down and has just signed up for a new project in the Arab world.

"I'm 78 and I've still got a lot of energy and I want to do what my dreams are, which is to see people come together across the barriers," Jones said in an interview in the Moroccan capital Rabat where he appeared in the Mawazine music festival.

He scoffs at a question as to whether age and past medical woes, such as a serious cerebral aneurysm he suffered in 1974, might encourage him to ease up.

"Not at all. I'll slow down when I die," he said.

WASHINGTON – Storm science has greatly improved tornado warnings in recent years. But if that's led anyone into a sense of security, that feeling has taken a beating in recent weeks.

Super Outbreak 2011, on April 25-28, killed more than 300 people in the South and Midwest. Less than a month later, a devastating tornado took more than 100 lives around Joplin, Mo.

This despite warnings of as much as 20 minutes, thanks to improved weather radar installed across the country in the 1990s. Before that, tornado warnings often weren't issued until a twister was sighted on the ground.

Scientists see a variety of factors that helped make this year's twisters deadlier — from La Nina to public complacency, from global warming to urban sprawl.

APNewsBreak: Calif. could require condoms in porn - Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES – Porn performers in California would be required to use condoms in sex scenes if draft rules from state workplace safety officials advance out of the proposal phase.

Cal/OSHA officials provided the Associated Press with a 17-page draft proposal that contained sometimes graphic details of the bodily fluids, waste matter and other materials that porn actors must protect themselves against to avoid infection.

The draft is to be discussed at a public meeting in Los Angeles on June 7 and would later go to the state's Occupational Safety & Health Standards Board for a ruling on whether it becomes part of state code.

The seven-member body is appointed by the governor and tasked with rulemaking to ensure safe and healthy workplaces in the state.
